Are you disturbed from loud and unhealthy sounds around your place? Don’t worry, we got you covered. Whether you travel in noisy traffic or live in a loud and disturbing noisy area, sound damping is the best thing you can do to lower the load on your ears. Such devices and pieces of equipment are needed to be installed that act as sound deadener.

Sound damping is a process in which high wave energy waves are made to reduce their wave energy leading to a decrease in the sound’s frequency, thus reducing the sound intensity. It is essential as your ears are having a particular sound intensity bearer, above which it can cause severe damage to your ears. Hence good damping is necessary to save your ears from damage.

Sound Damping in Van:

While travelling around in the city, if you can hear all of the noises around you, your van probably has poor or no sound insulation equipment that helps sound damping. To be free of those unwanted noises, it is best to install insulations known as sound deadener. There are several ways for insulating sounds, such as using 3M thins late and sheep’s wood.

May also use other materials to insulate their vans’ sounds as you know that vans have manufacturing prices varying from a few hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars. Depending on your requirement and comfort, the cost highly depends on the material you use to build a van. The material should be soundproof and durable enough to meet the soundproofing requirements.

While selecting materials, some of the essential things kept in mind are sound damping, insulation, wall paneling and wood choice. All these factors are necessary to provide you comfort while driving in a van. The proper damping material ensures that maximum sounds are stopped from travelling through the van’s body inside, disturbing the people.

Sound damping materials are essential to keep in mind as they don’t allow the outside sounds to come inside and don’t let the inside noise go outside. It enables you to have peace inside the van, and no one can hear you outside easily. They are installed just below the metal wall of the van before the insulation.

One of the most use of sound deadeners is peel and sticks as they are easy to install and don’t cause much. Using just 25% of these materials can make you feel a significant reduction in the noise. Suggestions are to install them in walls, the ceiling, the cab, the floors, wheel wells, doors and hoods. Other parts protection is done by using these sound damping types of equipment.

The main focus of insulating a van is to keep the van cold in summer and keep heat inside it in winter. For this purpose, different materials are used to keep the van’s internal environment throughout the year, ensuring a peaceful and noise-free environment inside the van. So here are a few of the materials that serve as sound deadeners discussed below,

Insulation Material Measured in R-value:

It is the measure of the capacity of the material to resist the heat flow. Generally, the greater the value of R, the greater is the resisting heat power of the material. But while choosing the material based on R-value, other important factors are to be acknowledged. They help in building a soundproof barrier in the van.

Firstly, your material should also be resistant to water, mildew and mold. Condensation can also be an issue for the camper vans, so it is better to keep that in mind that the material should not retain moisture. Secondly, you should be choosing a material that is easy to install. Lastly, it would be best to take care of the material’s toxicity, especially in fiberglass.

Hence, selecting a material is essential while choosing sound damping and significant issues such as flame resistance and good enough strength. Some of the generally used insulation materials are,

· 3M Thinsulate:

It is a synthetic material. It is non-toxic and is easy to install. It also has quite some sound-damping properties. However, it has a slightly higher price tag and somewhat lower R-value than some other options. The quality of the material is quite good, and it serves its purpose quite well.

· Sheep’s Wool:

Another emerging front-runner for van insulation is sheep’s wool. It is a natural material purely obtained from sheep wool. It is an eco-friendly option for sound-damping material with a slightly higher R than 3M Thinsulate value. It is comparatively cheaper, has moisture-wicking properties and providing good damping properties as well.

However, sheep wool is a favourite meal for insects. Hence preventions are to be made. For this purpose, add a bit of boric powder to avoid the insects eating away the wool, keeping in mind to lower the sheep wool’s flammability limit. This sheep wool is Non-toxic. Sheep wool is also quite messier when installing.

· Foam Boards:

Another option for insulation is rigid foam boards, like polyisocyanurate. These are readily available at hardware stores and are cheaper. While using a wooden foam board, you need to keep one thing in mind, the air pockets. You need to fill them with spray foam to avoid any sound leakage in the van.

Conclusion:

Unwanted sounds can be harmful to your ears. Moreover, it can lead to hearing loss. One should keep their ears healthy by reducing the sound intensity around them, and that is possible only when you install the excellent damping devices around you. Especially while travelling, if your van is not soundproof can lead you to distraction causing severe accidents.

We are providing a solution to sound damping. We deliver such equipment that acts as a sound deadener. These equipment pieces are needed to be installed to avoid any disturbance while you are driving your van. One should feel peace and comfort while driving in their van, having an environment free from sound disturbances. If you have any question, you can contact us for further details.
